Spray River in Banff National Park, Alberta
Nothing speaks more to me than the colour harmony! I am drawn to the warmth and turquoise here. Part of this 3 painting harmony is finding similar strengths… unity. Unique nuances surface and the feeling of earth and sky encompass, drawing me in, keeping me here in this place regardless of the time passing through us.
So great when a canvas is on the easel! My journey into the underpainting of Payne’s Gray is creative and reminds me of my first camera, shooting and developing black and white film. These trees are a dance of their own and the light coming through their branches is playful. Makes my heart feel light to experience this connection with what is tangible and yet so spiritual here in nature. Art for the soul, soul scape!
This is a very impressionistic painting with miles of brushwork to go. I can’t wait to bring this light-filled forest to life. Tomorrow we move onto colour. The sky sections are luminous like stained glass designs.
Light is such an important element for the photos I take and the paintings they become. This is an incredible combination of golden light and emerald shadows.
Palette and perspective. Always good to step back and realize how each painting is a process and has lead up to painting this moment!
Painting is a love, it is a language. It’s moments like these that make me feel so grateful to have time in the studio to explore colour, texture, shapes and form.
Sentimental Journeys is a collection of alpine landscapes painted with acrylics on to gallery wrapped canvas. Paintings are 24×24″ and 36×36″ with a depth of 1.5″ and a granite gray painted edge, ready for hanging. These paintings explore trails, both nostalgic and new. Their locations will forever be sentimental and special. This landscape series by Canadian artist and designer Tina Monod is about the beauty close and far, near and within Banff National Park and surrounding areas.
