Cascade Mountain in Banff National Park, Alberta
We must always keep that little place where magic grows inside of us, alive. For me, trips into the Town of Banff are pure magic! Crossing over the bridge and walking along Banff Avenue, one finds the beautiful Cascade Mountain. This view is one that always brings a smile.
Blending light and mountain shadow on my palette, I can feel the crisp alpine air. Almost hear the river nearby and a raven calling. As the sun begins to set, there is a lovely glow. Cascade is forever beautiful in symmetry and form. This place is greatly appreciated. Family who have visited from afar have always described it as incredible – c’est incroyable! So much love and adventure here. Voices from family gatherings echo in my memory. Always a blend of english and french, admiration and affection.
Edmund Hillary once said it best with these words. “Despite all I have seen and experienced, I still get the same simple thrill out of glimpsing a tiny patch of snow in a high mountain gully and feel the same urge to climb towards it.” As this painting grows, so does my philosophical knowledge of the mountains that we are all drawn to and our desire to become one with the outdoors.
Sentimental Journeys is a collection of alpine landscapes painted with acrylics on to gallery wrapped canvas. Paintings are 24×24″ and 36×36″ with a depth of 1.5″ and a granite gray painted edge, ready for hanging. These paintings explore trails, both nostalgic and new. Their locations will forever be sentimental and special. This landscape series by Canadian artist and designer Tina Monod is about the beauty close and far, near and within Banff National Park and surrounding areas.
